About April

                April Renee' Jackson, born March 6, 1958 to the proud parents of Billy G. Jackson I and Lois Jackson-Wilson. She has 3 siblings, 2 sisters Cheryl Graves and Toni Blount, 1 brother Billy G. Jackson II. April is the Eldest child. She is the mother of 4 biological children, Dia T. Hitch, Raeshema A. Hitch-Whaley, Raymond H. Hitch Jr., Tahlia E.J. Price and 1 adopted daughter Veronica Turner and a host of children from the community. At a very young age April had compassion for people. April loves to sing and dance. Her father is a big inspiration for the things she does in the community and one of the reasons for her political drive.April graduated from Parkside High School in 1977 and then attended University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She is an active member of the Wesley Temple United Methodist Church here in Salisbury, where she is the Director of the Wesley Temple Praise Dancers, Asst. Director of Multitudes of Praise, a member of the Worship Team, a Lay Speaker, teaches Bible Study, and Sunday School. She sponsors several fundraisers for her church. She is also the President of the Salisbury Advisory Council on Youth Activities, is the motivation for the Community of Helping Hands Mural at the Billy G. Jackson Sr. Park, Founder of New Directions II, she is one of the Teachers for the U.P.L.I.F.T (Utilizing Power Learning Information for Transformation) program which focuses on the empowerment of youth 5-18 year old youth, the Wicomico County Recreation & Parks Commissioner for the West Salisbury Parks, a member of the Wicomico County branch of the N.A.A.C.P., Tri-County Coalition Organization, and also Wicomico County Democratic Club. Ms. Jackson as spearheaded 4 Stop the Violence Marches. Continues on with the 2day even of the "Day in the Park", Back to School Pool Party, Harvest Season Costume Party, been in 2 plays with leading roles, and is also a wonderful Role Model in the community.
